Work is slow, and I have sold my house and thinking of packing it up and starting a new life. I'm 39 yrs old and want a change. I know alot about the Building Materials industry, and assume I can apply that to any area. But I need to know where to start. Im from So Cal, and I don't mind the heat, but I do like Water.

  1. We moved from So.Cal a little over a year ago, and LOVE it here!  We live in a north Dallas suburb, and the houses are beautiful (and 1/2 the price, yet 10x the quality of SoCal).  There are LOTS of lakes around here, but Dallas is pretty far from the ocean:)   The summer temps are pretty close to the LA area, and not usually much more humid either (but the nights don't get as cool).  There's still alot of building here;  the housing market isn't depressed like SoCal - and many businesses are moving their headquarters here.   Try Plano, Frisco, Allen or McKinney - extremely low (or non-existent) crime rate, not alot of traffic - great shopping & restaurants.  Lake Lavon isn't far from them either.....  But, there are also homes available on Lake Dallas

  2. San Antonio the river runs right through the city and it isn't too far from Corpus Christi, Padre Island is nice too. I looked at buying a house in Victoria.  The prices have gone up now.  Galveston or Freeport would be nice too.

  3. when you say "water" I presume you mean coastline?  TX can't compare to CA, so sorry, you will miss that...but the TX housing industry has not been as badly hit as most of the country.  Of course, better chances around urban areas, and if you're interested in Dallas (my preference over Houston) there is a lot of construction in the northern suburbs, e.g. Frisco, McKinney...

but you shouldn't move anywhere before you spend a few days scoping it out!

  4. I would try Plano or Richardson, they are just outside of Dallas. Lots of building industry and that you could try. There are also a lot of public pools in plano.

  5. well i used to live in texas and the best palce to live is keller texas its nice the weather is perfect too

  6. dallas, tx

of course its the heart of texas.

  7. Stay away from Houston, the crime/homicide rate there is extremely high especially after they received so many Katrina evacuees, and the official languae of that city is not even English.
