Question:

I'm thinking of taking up mountaineering. Which of London's peaks can I climb without oxygen?

I gather there are several real challenges in London Alpine terms: Denmark Hill, Tulse Hill, Primrose Hill, Herne Hill, and perhaps Mt Pleasant? Have I missed any? Are these all scaleable without needing oxygen? I prefer the direct unaided ascents myself.

What about sherpas??

  1. I'd give Denmark Hill a go, not withuot the o2 though. It's a bit gross round there. BUUUT, you will always have Kings College on standby for oxygen, so maybe you could try it without?

  2. you barking mad woman, must be hypoxia from all that london alpinism

  3. Harrow on the Hill,

    Mill Hill,

    Holly Mount,

    Chingford Mount,

    all climeable without oxygen

  4. The Vulcan Inn isle of dogs has 3 steps leading up to

the summit. Take care it has claimed the unprepared

    several times,best of luck

  5. id take a   sherpa everywhere, make sure your donkey is well prepared...... you are so brave, good luck in your quest...its a jungle out there

  6. Shooters Hill (132m) Muswell Hill and more at http://www.timeout.com/london/features/2...

I prefer taking the bus, there's a lot of Asian bus drivers as a sort of Sherpa substitute.

  7. Never attempt Primrose hill, with out strict training, A frapochino and a wheat free muffin, it could be disastrous
