I'm thirteen and being forced to gain weight!!!?

i am 5'3 and i weigh 85 lbs. my doctor just told me that i have to gain weight, but i already think im fat now, idk what im gonna think if i weigh 110 lbs. that would suck. im confused should i listen to her or should i just stay the way i am. idk if my boyfriend will still like me if i gain that much weight..... im so confused, what should i do????

  1. sweetie, i'm 5'2" 110 lbs and I'm far from fat. if your bf doesn't like u after u gain weight then he's low and shallow and doesn't deserve in the first place. you should listen to your doctor and gain weight cause the weight ur at now just inst healthy. eat plenty of lean meats, complex carbs like 100% whole wheat bread, fruits, veggies, and mono- and poly- unsaturated fats found in nuts, peanut butter, avocados, olive/canola oils, and fish. other complex carb sources are brown rice, whole-wheat pasta, oatmeal, and quinoa. eating healthy like this to gain weight will not cause you to gain large amounts of fat. you will stay lean instead


  2. You are underweight for your age and not fat. No offense but it sounds like your anorexic and hope for your sake you are not. Please listen to your parents and the doctor as I am sure they both have your best interests at heart.  Why don't you ask your parents for you to see a nutritionist? as she can help you learn how to eat in a healthy way as to gaining weight.

  5. girl if ur doctor is telling you to gain weight then u probably need to gain weight. You may think your fat but your not even close!!!! If you weight 110 lbs then thats just the perfect weight! I don't know what your complaining about, some girls would die to be that skinny

  6. Gain the weight. Your not fat if your doctor, a professional, is telling you that you need to gain weight. If your boyfriend doesn't like it then who cares, you are 13 and will not end up marrying him anyways. Being too skinny is not s**y or healthy so do what your doctor tells you.

    2. If you think you're fat now, there's something seriously wrong in your mind. 85 lbs is underweight. My friend's 5'3 and 95 lbs and everyone calls her anorexic for it. -___- (( she dances a lot, so she's pretty small. ))

    3. If your boyfriend doesn't like you anymore because you're becoming a healthier weight, he wasn't a great boyfriend to begin with. He should like you because of your personality, not your looks. Besides, you really do need some meat on your bones.

  10. wow i was 5'4 and 90 pounds and they made me weigh at least 110 and i think i look so much better and I'm in good shape and i once i gained weight you could see my abs:-) and if your afraid of what ur boy friend will think he isn't a good bf if he will dump u when u look normal.   11. Listen to your doctor, it sounds to me like you have an eating disorder. If your boyfriend doesn't still like you when you're healthy, then he's not worth it.

  12. you must be english because your system of measuring and counting is english way. I think your doctor must have seen girls of your height and age that are fat or plumpy. i don't think you are skinny you are just fine because in kilos measurement same height as you and same age you measure more or less 45-46 kilos. you don't need to take more otherwise you will look like a pumpkin and obese looking.

    so don't bother just keep on going you are just fine

We are always a harsher judge on ourselves when assessing looks and weight (especially women).  I know when I pinch my stomach, my husband says "you are so skinny".  Of course I don't believe him because I just "feel fat".  If your doctor is suggesting you gain weight, chance is that he sees something that you may not.  By staying underweight, your body may not be receiving the amount of calories or nutrients that it needs to perform optimally.  Don't try to gain weight by eating junk.  Start by assesing how many calories a 110lb woman needs to eat, and meet those caloric needs daily.  Eat fruits, vegetables, lean protein and whole grains.  Best of luck!
