I'm throwing a formal black and white party I am looking for ideas for this party.?

This is my sweet 16 and i want it to be a formal black and white party. I want to decorate with the colors black white and silver. But i don't know what color to wear. I'm going to be wearing a formal tight fitting dress. I was thinking either a teal or a pink. I have a boyfriend also who I was going to have match me. I don't know what to do at this party. Im basically looking for decoration ideas, music ideas, and activities. I know of the traditional candle lighting ceremony. But is there any more traditions that I should follow? I also dont know what type of food to serve. Can you please help me?! I turn sixteen in august..

If you are a "cool" complexion, wear the pink.  If you are a "warm" complexion (redheaded), wear the teal!

Get some sparkling apple cider and serve in champagne glasses.  Games? I dunno...

I think you should wear a royal red dress so you stand out! and find black and white invatations, tableclothes, etc. So when people look around everyone will know its your party and you will stand out.

Your color scheme is really pretty!  You can decorate with black and silver balloons clustered in the corners of the room.  I wouldn't add the white in the black and silver are prettier alone.  Then you can do black and silver streamers going from the ceiling to the corners of the room.

You can do black, white, and silver tablecloths and the coordinating napkins.  You can do one table with a black tablecloth, the next one with a silver one, and the next one in white, and so on.  Then, on the black tablecloth, you can do silver napkins, on the silver tablecloth, do the white, and on the white, do the silver.  

Then you can get those clear, stringed, Christmas lights and hang them all around the party area.  They will look SO pretty and SO festive like twinkling lights.  They will add a nice atmosphere to have all around the party area!

You can do a balloon archway in the main doorway that you're going to be entering in, and then with the clusters of balloons around the party, and the streamers, and the twinkles lights, you won't need much more!

For the centerpieces you can do clear vases with a white piller candle, or you can do white flowers.  You can even do a bunch of the balloons.  There's lots you can do, just think creativly and think what you would like!

For activities, it depends on where your party is.  If it's in a hall, you can tape a raffle ticket under the seat of one chair per table and whoever sits in that chair either wins the centerpiece or a prize.

If you have a DJ, you can ask him to do some games and interactive dances.  You can do the macarena, the limbo, ymca, there are SO many interactive dances that you can all do that are fun.  Then you can have him play something like DJ says, which is simon says, but only with the dj and everyone on the dance floor!  

You can also go to orientaltrading.com and check out what's there.  They have the EXACT props the DJ would bring like the inflatable instruments and they are SO much cheaper and they are cheaper than the dollar store and they sell things in bulk!  Check them out for decorations, props, and even favors!

For food, have the food YOU love!  Whatever YOUR favorite food is that's what you should have!  If that's bbq, do it, if it's Italian, do it!  If it's Chinese food have that, it's your birthday and your party, have the food you LOVE!!  Don't follow the theme with the food and then up serving food you may or may not like because it follows the theme of white or black food, have the food YOU love and that's your favorite!  Your Sweet Sixteen happens once, enjoy your party and have the food you love!

I'm not sure of any traditions that happen at a Sweet 16, so I can't really help you with that.  I didn't have a big Sweet 16, so I didn't do all that you're doing so I'm not familiar with traditions that go with them.

As for the way you dress, wear whatever makes you happy and feels good!  If you have a dress that you love and have your heart set on for the party, go for it!  Don't worry about whether it goes with your theme, YOU are the guest of honor and can wear what YOU want!  If you're comfortable, and happy, as long as you're fully clothed, have fun!!

if the party is black and white  then wear the colours you said  black white or silver................if your friends know your wearing a colour then they may do so to and then your theme is gone
