were the only one being inducted. Walter O'Malley did a tremendous amount of benefit to baseball by bringing the sport to the west coast. Why not write about that man and his accomplishments? I'm not taking nothing away from Goose, but let's not forget the most important man of all inductees, Walter O'Malley.

  1. Gossage was a player, always more interesting to the masses. One cannot look up O'Malley's stats.

Gossage is alive and can give quote.

Gossage was elected by the baseball writers. Let's emphasize that: elected by the BASEBALL WRITERS. Of the six inductees for 2008, which one would we expect the WRITING MEDIA to have the most interest in covering?

    By primary team affiliation:

    Southworth -- Cardinals, Braves

    O'Malley -- Dodgers

    Kuhn -- commissioner

    Dreyfuss -- Pirates

Williams -- Red Sox, A's, Angels, Expos

    Gossage -- Yankees

It is no leap whatsoever to consider that the former Yankee in the class will get the most national attention.

  2. What do you expect, he's a Yankee.

  3. I agree. I am a Cardinals fan, and there is nothing about the manager of our 40s dynasty, Billy Southworth. But Walter O'Malley changed the game in a way nobody else did. They wouldn't have focused on Goose Gossage as much if he had not played for the Yankees. He was a great closer though. Congradulations 2008 HOF inductees!

  4. Walter O'Mally was an owner, Goose Gossage played for the Yankees so Goose is more popular.

  5. goose is bull s***w all yanks .....................go omalley

  6. snif snif...I smell a red sox fan...
