I'm 29, had my first computer int he 1980s... I feel like I've seen it all before as far as computer games are concerned. I have a computer, Xbox360 and PS3, but I feel like I need something else.

I've played MMOs, flash games, browser games and java clients too.

I'd like to find something different to play. Are there any niche computer gaming areas that you know about and could share with me? I'm tired of mainstream. If it's free to play, all the better.

  1. I feel ya man. Someday I look through my collection of over 240 games and nothing appeals to me.

Some older games that are extremely non main stream and rarely talked about are:

    -Darklands for the PC

-UFO: Extraterrestrials for PC (based on a classic PC game but compatable with XP.)

Physconauts for the original xbox (I think you can buy it off of XBL.)

1701 AD is a fun game also for the PC.

GUN and The Outfit are great games for the 360.

Also a few good MMO's to check out are EVE-Online and Istaria. The firsts is based in space and the second is more traditional although you can be a dragon :-)

Hope this spawns some ideas and good luck.

  2. Ahhh! Real Monsters for the SNES.

  3. Being 29 years old you should definitely have the money to try something else besides video games.  I got tired of video games a long time ago.  Now most of my money that would have been spent on video games are now being spent properly on stuff that are actually more useful in the long run.  There are plenty of things to do besides playing a video game at home.  Take up a recreational sport such as kayaking, hiking, cycling or skiing.  Be sure to spend good money on your equipment because if you buy something cheap you will quickly grow out of that in the few months.
