i'm to detect Fatty Acid Methyl Esters (FAMEs) in biodiesel in jet fuel by GCMS, between C17 to C22, my method does not state anything about using an Internal Standard. Which internal standard can i use??? or do i have to try and purchase deuterated forms of each ME.

The components are

C18:3 Linolenate

C18:2 Linoleate

C18:1 Oleate

C18:0 Stearate

C17:0 Margate

C16:0 Palmetate

  1. If you have all the standard FAME at hand and you are just looking for an internal standard for the correction of the injection volumes and the calculation basis, any stuff will do, that eluates in the temperature range of the FAME and what will be resolved from the fatty acid esters. Why not try a corresponding hydrocarbon or a fatty acid ethylester?

It's important for good results to use exactly the same I.St.-solution for the  calibration with the FAME standards and the analytic probe. I even would suggest to use the same pipettes and volumetric flasks to compensate for systematic artifacts.
