Question:

I'm too excited to fall asleep!?

I'm going to horse camp tomorrow and I'm so excited I can't fall asleep! Any ideas to help me sleep??? preferably no drugs, and for you smart allacks, no I won't have anyone punch me.

  1. Maybe you should listen to some classical music(Mozart, Beethoven,etc.) at night to help you sleep.Or watch a boring TV show so you'll be bored to sleep.

    i always get way exited and nervous before horse shows lol

    i watch tv untill late so i fall asleep or listen to music

    also i try to think about other things

  5. Ooh....I have that feeling on christmas! lol....umm...this sounds REALLY weird, but i rub my feet against the sheets. it helps me fall asleep. or just think about something else. watch TV until you fall asleep. listen to music, anything!

    just think, the sooner you fall asleep, the sooner youll be at camp!

  7. oh gosh I have the same problem the night before horse shows.  It sucks because once I only got 25 minutes of sleep! The lack of sleep plus the long strenuous day ahead resulted in a huge migraine the following day at school :(

    But anyways in my journey through insomnia (with and without horse related activities) has found these things to be helpful:

    1)No caffeine after 4:00pm (so stay away from pop, chocolate, and coffee for the rest of the day!)

    2)Go excercise- NOW! Go jog around the block until you are good and tired.  If you wait and do this later, the excercise will stimulate your brain and make it harder to fall asleep.

    3)Take a nice warm shower tonight and if you have any aroma therapy sugar scrubs- use em

    4) Make sure your bedroom is dark and cool.  Turn on the fan if you have one.

    5)If you are planning to fall asleep to the t.v./movie make sure its a boring movie that you've seen a thousand times, and be sure to put your t.v. on sleep so it doesnt disturb you after you fall asleep.

    6) Drink a warm glass of milk  

    7)If you find that you just can't fall asleep tonight after laying in bed for a half an hour- get up out of bed or leave the room, read a book or do another quiet activity for a little while, and then come back to bed and try again.  The longer you lay there, the harder it will be.

  8. Watch infomertials. Ya know, the ones about skin care products or that metal bracelet that is supposed to improve your health. Just stay awat from watching anything horse related :P

  9. Close your eyes and imagine you slowly galloping threw some fields and jumping fences. Just lay there with your eyes closed thinking that.

  10. read a book for a bit--dont do anything with noise. create a story in your head. that's what i do. i hope you like camp. i started at a camp and never stopped.

  11. i get like that before horse shows too! watch a movie, read a book, listen to soothing music. This is really weird but I lie down on my back and put my arms straight up. it makes me tired hahaha

  13. Try reading, listening to music, or drinking [warm] milk.
