I'm transitting in Frankfurt early in the morning, for 2 hours, is there anything that I can do?

My train from Frankfurt to Stuttgart leaves at 8, which I arrive at 6. It would still be dark then? I hope I can walk around for at least an hour an half. Could somebody suggest something closeby the train station that would be interesting? Maybe suggestions of a typical Frankfurt breakfast? That would also be great, thanks a lot!

  1. Its going to be pitch dark still at 6 a.m. I think your best bet for an early breakfast would be either in or near the train station, many place might be still closed at this early hour as well as the shops, the streets would be quite empty, I would be a bit careful if I was you.

  2. Frankfurt Train station itself is place to get a bit to eat and even a place to have a small Continental breakfast which is typical German. The press and books stores will slowly open and you can get a USA Today. It will still be dark at 6AM it won't start getting light until 6:45 to 7:15. Its best to stay at the train station because nothing outside the train station will be open until 9:30 or 10:00 o'clock maybe a Cafe or a Bakery. If are Adventurous you can jump the U-Bahn to the next stop down town at the Wache Stop but then again nothing will be open. I believe at this time a year they have a small Christmas Market at the Train Station but by the time it opens you will be on your way to Stuttgart which there the Christmas market is open when you get there. Enjoy your trip

  3. You are now in Europe.  The only thing open at 6AM are bakeries (and they are just barely opening so the pickings are slim), not even Starbucks will be open.  8-9AM is the typical opening time for European shops.  There are shops at the airport, but I doubt they will be open until 9 AM.

The airport is not in downtown Frankfurt.  The amount of time to get anywhere interesting would be 15-30 minutes away by taxi.  If you are arriving outside the EU, expect at least 15 minutes to get through customs and another 15 minutes to get your bag.  Unfortunately, the best thing to do is just walk around the airport.

As for typical breakfast, well that is up to debate.  I think every region has a "typical" breakfast.  These days with the hustle and bustle of life sometimes its just a pastry and coffee.  A "typical" European breakfast at a hotel consists of different types of meat cuts, fruits, coffee or tea, boiled egg, yogurt to go with cereals and grains.

Good luck and have fun.  Perhaps its best to do something in Frankfurt on your way out.

  4. The  Frankfurt   trainstation  is  full  with  little  Bakerys  and  bistro. And  they  gonna  be  open  at   6  am .

  5. Perhaps does one of the largest red light districts of Europe interest you?  It is only a few meters from the Mainstation. Ask for the Kaiserstrasse. It should be enough time for... But you can also go eating.  You will find something surely.

  6. There really isn't much you can do from that early in the morning, The Frankfurt station is a really large station however and you can do some shopping and eating there. There are a few cafe's and bakeries in the station itself, as well as some small shops. Not much else will be open that early, it will be very dark, and the only thing around the outside the airport are various airlines' headquarters.
