So as I stated I'm heading to Europe at the end of July, specifically Trondheim, Norway. I've heard about issues converting money and how it's better to do it here in the States, also I'm a fairly in experienced traveller so any tips you may have would be much appreciated. Thanks!

P.S. I'm staying with a friend in Norway, and staying a weekend in Denmark, so lodging is my least concern.

  1. Wear your book back on the front of you. ;)

  2. well i travel to italy every summer and i stress packing things on the plane. you never know if they are going to lose your bag so wear comfortable and simple clothes on the place and pack a fairly big carry on. i dont mean HUGE and annoying, but a change of clothes and an extra pair of flop flops are a good idea. also be careful about what you can bring, they are still being pains about liquids so make sure all your makeup is in a plastic bag. buy magazines, water, snacks etc at the airport.

money situation is as follows- i would call your friend and as her how much it costs to exchange money and then compare it to how much it will cost you here. if they are the same, then exchange a bit ( 100 or 200 maybe?) in the states that way you have some money for when you first arrive and you can get settled in without having to worry about exchanging money. i suggest exchanging some before hand either way, that way your arrival can be relaxed. just find the place where it will cost less to exchange your money and stick with that. have a mix of traverls checks, cash and credit cards. STAY ORGANIZED!!! dont leave your friends house with all of your money at once. and when you do leave, keep it in a wallet that is in a pocket inside your purse that is zipped and you have a good grip on.

also dont carry your passport with you everywhere, insted carry a copy of some type of identification, that way, god forbid, if your bag gets taken you wont have to worry about losing your passport as well. keep as much as you can at your friends house safley tucked away

now that i have told u all the scary things....HAVE FUNNN. take lots of pictures and buy lots of things so you can rememeber your trippp

  3. Personally, I would say just take your ATM card, especially if your bank doesnt charge fees for using your card at other ATM's.  You get the BEST exchange rates at ATM's, and you dont have to carry around a ton of cash, which is a real risk.  The last time I went to Ireland, I went with 0 Euro's in my pocket, and just hit an ATM in the Dublin airport right after I got off the plane.  They have ATM's everywhere in Europe, so its really not an issue.
