I'm travelling through London the first time via train. Are the times easy to meet?

I need to go on the tube and this what it is:

LONDON KINGS CROSS Arrive 19:05 Depart 19:05

Which means i depart as soon as i get there. Having never used the tube or travelled in London before (via train or other methods) how likely is it that i'll make it in time? If i was to miss it, is there another one i can catch regularly?

  1. The tube is extreme fast, and if you miss it, there will be another train in a few minutes, it is such a good way to travel.

  2. depending on where you are going, the tube runs every few minutes so don't worry. i think the longest is about 10 mins waiting time

    x*x

  3. The tube trains run every few minutes, so no need to bother with a timetable down there.

If you are connecting with a train from another mainline station (Victoria, Euston etc), then I'd make sure of at least one hour to get to the other station.

  4. You would never do it. You have to walk down the platform find the Undergound, descend into the system, put your ticketsinto the gate machine, let the esclators take you down to the tunnels, walk around and ensure your travelling in the right direction, get on the platform and wait for the train. I normally say an average of 5 to 10 mins to transfer from Train to Underground is best, very few stations need longer.

  5. Try this website i recommend this to all people that i give connections in london.

you can plan your journey for specific day and time which is helpful

  6. Very regular.  You won't have to wait long at all!

  7. The tube station is under Kings X.  trains run every 3/4 mins. but do try and avoid the rush hours. 07:00-0930-17:00-19:00

  8. All this means is that your NXEC train is scheduled to arrive into London at 1905, when you get into Kings Cross the underground station is on the main concourse which you will find at the top of the platform when you arrive, down the flight of stairs and that's your Kings Cross tube station, Tube trains are very regular so don't worry if you miss one, another usually comes along about 10 Min's later.

There are plenty of staff around to ask and if you get really stuck there is an information booth on The main station

  9. Get an earlier connection! The only time I was in London was trying to get from Gatwick (I think) to Waterloo station to catch the Eurostar home. Disaster! My friends said not to worry, it'll be fine, but it took me two hours on the tube in rush hour and I arrived 5 minutes late for my connection. Luckily for me, there were still open seats on the next one or I'd have been stuck in London for the night! It was h**l.

Go back to where you found those times and check for earlier or later connections cuz unless the train is just changing names at King's Cross and you don't really have to transfer onto another, you're bound to miss this connection! Even if the tubes are perfectly on time, the next one will be departing as the first one pulls into the station.
