  1. Make sure you bring some gloves, an umbrella and warm socks. Also a hood or a hat.

  2. Wash cloths. It was quite puzzling that most B&B's I stayed at did not have them.

I did alot of hiking and having another pair of walking shoes would have been nice. Mine would get wet and muddy, and then I'd have to wait for them to dry out! I had a pair of flats too, but not ideal for hiking!

Don't overpack though. You can get virtually anything you need there, and most towns of a reasonable size have lovely laundry services.

  3. Potatoes, they can't get enough, oh and bring some American lager 'beer' they like a good laugh.

  4. Hi, I went to Ireland last september. You may want to pack some crackers and snacks. The food is terrible. We packed snacks and it saved us. Also some pepto bismol from all the beer and greasy food you'll eat. When we went I thought it would be warm but I used my northface fleece the whole time. It was cool. Well, in the country anyway. Dublin wasn't as bad. Galway is the college town. Its was my favorite city. Right on the water though, so bring warm clothes and an umbrella. Have fun and remember Guinness is good for you:]!

  5. I am also going to ireland in September (Home) I would bring a rain jacket and be able to layer your clothes...oh and lots of euros,,,,it is expensive

  6. Take layers! A light, waterproof coat like a windbreaker and a sweatshirt should get you through anything.  Jeans and tennis shoes are pretty much acceptable anywhere I went while there.

Overall the best advice is not to take too much.  If you need it and don't have it you can buy it there.

  7. Umbrella, comfortable shoes, lots of cash, camera and pack an empty suitcase or bag in your bag!, so you can take home all your shopping. Shopping is great in Ireland.
