  1. First of all it's very hard to breed bettas and you will have a hard time. Also, when a male betta is threatened it blows up.

Most importantly bettas are chinese fighting fish are were breed to fight so if you want death or injures you might consider stopping breeding.

  2. okay make sure one is female and one is male the female will be less pretty. wait tell the male blows LOTS of little bubbles at the top of the tank. When there is lots of bubbles and one is male the other female pull up the tank divider and simply wait. They should mate if they do not then that means they have the same gender.

if you cant tell the gender then simply ask someone who has a betta or the pet store.

Be carefull if the female attaks that means that they wont mate and will fight untill one dies.

    good luck with that!

  3. How long did you condition them? Did the male build the bubble nest? Is the female showing vertical bars? If you conditioned then for at least 2 weeks and answered yes to the other answers then it is normal, after a few  hours the female will stop being scared of the male and start trying to wrap.

  4. I've read that you should keep them apart until you know that they are ready to mate, otherwise they may fight with each other.  It sounds like this is what's been happening.

When the male is ready to mate, I think you should start to notice him blowing bubbles, trying to form a kind of "bubble nest".  Sounds weird, I know, but that's what I've read on all the bettta websites. :)
