  1. Hi there,

The fact that your average is so different probably points to one of the issues. I would imagine that you long to hit that 285 yard drive straight down the middle. You do it 2 out of 10 times so why can't you do it every time right?

Most pro golfers are only ever swinging at about 80% of their swing speed.

It is most likely to be one of the following 2 things:

    1) The wrong shaft in your driver (can you let us know what you have)

    2) A swing fault. You are likely to be using an out to in swing and either slicing it or pulling it straight left. The outcome between these two shots will be based on where the clubface is at impact.

  2. Go into your local golf store.  They have a long plastic stick that you can swing that will measure your swing speed (The Speed Stick).  The only way your swing speed is causing a slice is if you swing REALLY fast, and you're using regular, or flexible shaft clubs.

  3. You can estimate your club head speed with the following calculation: 2.3yds/mph. This is based strickly on air time and not roll. So if you hit the ball 250 yards in the air, you can estimate 250/2.3 = 108.7mph.

For the slice, I would suggest slowing it down a little. You will lose distance, but you will gain control. Once you have the accuracy with consitency, then add the speed.
