  1. D is at the top -- colorless, it means no yellow what so ever.

  2. Diamonds fall into three categories, colorless, near colorless, and fancies.

Your colorless stones are D, E, and F.

Your near colorless stones are G, H, I, and J.

Your fancies are K and up.

Ds can be very beautiful depending on the cut (excellent to poor).

That particular diamond will look beautiful as a D. VVSI (those are the inclusions and that particular one is right before you get into your Flawless stones) BUT it depends on the cut.  Make sure you get a certified report and that it is nothing below very good as the light will not reflect off of it properly.

Before you make any kind of diamond purchase, I suggest going over to www.pricescope.com

It is my favorite website on learning about diamonds.  Post in the forum Rocky Talky and they will tell you whether the diamond is worth it.

  3. You have 3 of the 4 C's:

    2 carat- Nice!

VVS1 clarity- has very slight inclusions that CANNOT be seen with the naked eye- Very, VERY good!

D color- Colorless.... There is a scale from D-F(colorless, D being the best!) G-I (near-colorless) So you got the best!

The only one you are missing is the cut...

Ideal is the best, then Very Good, and Good cuts follow....

Sounds like you got a REALLY good diamond....

  4. Check out this site: http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-and-jewe...

You will learn everything you need to know about diamond quality and pricing.

    Good Luck!

  5. D means "absolutely" colorless.  Basically the best grade you can get.
