My old cooler used to have a separate compartment to keep foods that you wanted to stay dry. Now, I can't seem to find another cooler like that one... does anyone have any ideas for me? Last weekend, we used a glass 8x11 cake pan & put all the items in that, but that sunk to the bottom & then the water flowed in... i have a 5 day trip coming up & I'm not looking forward to wet food. thanks!!

  1. Get a Rubber made container with a lid and put some Items in Ziploc bags that should keep the water out and keep it out of the cooler items that you want to keep cold but dry use Ziploc bags like mentioned.

  2. Rubbermaid, Coleman, and Igloo all make coolers with a top storage tray for dry items. All three are sold in Wal-mart and many other places such as large drug stores.

You can also get plastic ware that has tightly sealing tops. Many are air tight and would not allow water to get into your dry food items. Just go to any discount store that sells housewares and find the sizes that will fit into your cooler.

Large plastic "zipper" bags are another idea. Some of them come in huge sizes and will keep just about anything dry.

  3. Ya'll could rig up some chicken wire to form a basket that fits in thar and keeps things nice 'n dry. Shape it like an upside down W and put yer foodstuffs in the middle.

  4. I usually freeze gallon plastic jugs full of water for multiple day trips - big blocks last longer - water stayed in jugs so no problem - plus ice cold drinking water

use the disposable plastic kitchen storage boxes (Glad or other brand)

place on top of other stuff in cooler because they can leak

you can always put the box in a plastic bag as well and keep sealed opening towards the top
