  1. check with the Charities.  they get them all the time.  trying to collate which charities have members is a pain.

    St. Vincent de Paul

    Goodwill.

    Catholic charities.....

the one thing I aways rant about is that widows are ALL THE TIME donating their husbands Boat to charity so that they (A) dont have to sell it and (B) write if off thier taxes.

(did you say East Bay.....like in Oakland?)

The universities also have a bunch of boat donations.

UCSD (san diego) gets them every year.

    UC berkeley does too.

check out the marinas in your area.  see the harbor mastor or marina manager about boats slipped or moored by the universities or charities.

  2. Try Boat angles, it is a non profit organization reselling donated boats.

  3. Do you even have an idea of just what condition a 40 foot donated boat is in?  Most are only fit to take out and sink to make an artificial reef from.

If you want to live aboard a 40 foot boat, then you can expect to spend $50,000 or so for anything decent enough to live on... they don't let you park junk in marinas any longer, so it's got to be a decent looking boat or you won't even get a slip.

  4. I got a 40' trawler FOR SALE but I aint going to donate it to anyone.
