My fiance was adopted by a family in Portland, TN. He was born in January 1964. He was treated poorly by his adopted parents his entire life and I think if he knew where he came from it would help his self esteem. He was over 10 pounds at birth and had a lazy eye until he had surgery a few years ago. If you know of some one who had a baby that fits this description in 1964 and gave it up for adotption, please respond. He is now 6'2'' tall and weighs about 215 w/brown hair and eyes. Any help would be appreciated

I don't want to know about agencies or legalities and only serious answers please.

  1. Try the ancestry.com website.

If you know what adoption agency placed him with his parents, try contacting them. They may be able to give him his birth certificate.

I helped someone find their real family last year. Sadly her real mom passed away about 5 years before that. So it was sad finding out she would never get to meet her. And there wasn't a real dad listed. Luckily she had half siblings she got to meet.

  2. i don't really have an answer to your question, but i hope that you will not be offended by advice:

i think you should make sure that this is what HE would want.  does he have a desire to meet his birth parents?  if he doesn't want to meet them, then (whether you think it's a good idea or not) it wouldn't be the best thing for him.  this isn't the kind of thing you want to surprise someone with.  if he's all for it, then great!  good luck to you!

  3. sounds like a needle in the haystack with this type of search. Unfortunately this is the only way you can search. You as his fiancee' have no authority to get info from the agencies.  and this is a serious answer

  4. I am an adoptee and am all for reuniting with one's family...

However - this is his family and his can of worms that he must open himself. It is not your place to undertake this search for him.  Your attempts to help could cause him far more damage and pain than you could ever imagine if he is not ready for what will be found. Please support him, but accept he must be the one to search.

  5. Department of Children's Services

    Post Adoption Unit

I believe your fiance was born in a State where he can actually access his own records.  Apply here:

    436 6th Avenue, NW

    8th Floor, Cordell Hull Building

    Nashville, Tennessee 37243-1290

    (615)532-5637

    Access to Adoption Records: http://www.state.tn.us/youth/adoption/re...

    He's not registered here yet:

    http://registry.adoption.com/

    and here

    http://www.isrr.net/

If you don't want to know about doing these basic things, you are not going to find

    Good luck

  6. I'm really sorry, but there are SO many people in the world 1.1 million men can fit that descripition. So i'm not really sure, i've ever seen his birth parents. I live in nebraska. I guess I will try, but as far as I know, well nothing.

    Best of Luck!
