i am looking for someplace to take pull tabs off the tops of pop cans that contrubite to kids. Instead of taking them to the local Mcdonalds. can anyone help?

Most elementary schools collect these, as well as General Mills boxtops, etc, and the proceeds go directly into each school's discretionary account for student-directed purchases.  Just call the school's office to see if they collect these, as well as other items like aluminum, spent printer ink cartridges, obsolete cellphones, etc.  They will well thank you for your efforts!
