If you know of any free web sites to look up obituaries please let me know. My mom never met her father and only knows his name and she wants to find out anything about him that she can. We also know he lived in misouri. Thanks so much. This really means a lot to her.

  1. Have you just tried searching on his name?

You can also post his name here and someone can look for you.

  2. your public library

  3. I just found a site where you can look up any records. It's called www.DeathRec.com/obituaries.html . Then, click on Obituaries in Missouri. When you click on that, you can then enter his name, gender, and anything else you know about him. You don't have to fill it all out, just what you know. Hopefully that will take you to where you can find more about your Grandfather. I hope you find what you're looking for, and good luck to your mother. Everyone deserves to know their father. Hope I helped! Bye!

  4. The above is a subscription site, try this free one (note: it would still be best to provide his name so we can first find his Social Security Death Index record, which will likely contain a location and a date):

    http://obits.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-b...

    Hope that helps!

  5. Look in the SSDI for his name, you will have to know a few details like when he died, what state will help and hope he doesn't have a common name. This is not fool proof as his death may not have been reported. It will also tell you where the last payment was made and then look in the newspapers for that region.  In your search engine just type in SSDI
