How do I do a detailed search on facebook like you can on myspace ?

Also if you know people he is likely to be friends with (preferably with less common names) you can search for them, and then click on 'view friends'. This will give you a list of that persons friends listed alphabetically.

Well Firstly, above the search results, there is a navigation menu that says stuff like, all, people, pages etc. Choose People, as you are looking for a person. Then if you know where he lives, works, you can type in the network, providing he has joined the network of his hometown , workplace etc. There is no open advanced search, I believe for security reasons and identity theft and so on.
