I'm trying to find the best way to paint a freshly stained dresser black. Any suggestions??

I bought a black stain for a dresser and it ended up staying more of a dark brown. I really need it to be black but I still want to see the grain. Would it be better to paint it of spray paint it? I don't want to ruin this good piece of furniture.

The differance between stain and paint is the fact that paint hides the wood grain.

Look for a black dye stain instead of a pigment stain.
