Ok, I am trying to setup my health insurance at work. I just found out the other day that my girlfriend is 8weeks pregnant. She has already gotten on medicaid so im not worried about having to cover her or the baby....just myself. Anyways, I called some big insurance provider and had everything setup. then I siad my girlfriend is pregnant will the baby be covered....and pretty much the siren sounded and I was told I cant get insurance. So should I just call a different place and not say anything about my girlfriend? I dont want to wait 9 months to get insurance, I really need some dental work. What do I do people?

  1. If she's independently covered, don't tell them anything they don't have to know. They prick up their red flags for insurance fraud when you tell them about possible health risks around you, where you might try to cover it with your insurance.

  2. Are you setting up your insurance through your work or are you getting your insurance and paying from you own pocket.

Now if your getting it through work they can not reject you or her and the baby at least that is what i was told about my son.

but if your getting it through yourself your totall screwed you would have to wait for 9 ,months but if she has medicaid she is completely covered i would not say a d**n thing i made that mistake once and will never do it again. goodluck.

  3. I don't know who you called or why, but if you're getting group health insurance through work for yourself, your girlfriend's pregnancy shouldn't matter as she is not covered anyway.  When your baby is born, you can add the child (but not your girlfriend) to your policy.

  4. When you get an insurance quote they will pretty much ask you all the questions needed for underwriting. If the coverage is only for you, you are fine. But if you are getting coverage for your pregnant gf as well, then you should tell the insurance company otherwise it will consider fraud. If the previous company denied you because of your gf being pregnant, that is prejudice. SOrry you had to go through insurance company like that.

  5. In Arizona, and it sounds like this is the case in your state as well, you would be denied an individual policy. The question on the application will say, "Is anyone applying for coverage, male or female, an expectant parent."

Whether your girlfriend has insurance or not, the company you are applying for must insure the baby within 30 days of birth if you ask them to. A baby with medical problems can incur many hundreds of thousands of dollars in expenses. This is why you will be denied coverage.

Not telling the next insuror about your pregnant girlfriend is insurance fraud.

Dental care is usually not covered on a medical plan. There are many decent discount plans available that will most likely serve your needs.

  6. Health insurance doesn't cover dental work so I am confused what type of coverage you are asking for.
