Question:

I'm trying to get rid of flees as organically as possible, and have a few questions?

I plan on vacuuming everywhere and throwing the bag out when I'm done. I have an all natural spray called Sergeant's Natures Guardian, and I'm planing on spraying just about everything with it;carpet, upholstery, drapes, corners, nooks etc. I've read about the cycle of the flea, so I know I will have to keep up on this for a while. I plan on giving my cats baths with dawn because I heard it is as powerful as you can get without using chemicals.

My questions are:

1.) Will it ruin my bathroom and kitchen rugs if I throw them in the washer? If I can wash them in the washer, am I also able to dry them in the dryer?

2.) Do you know of any other non-toxic remedies that I could apply to my cats or any other tricks, tips or ideas that could help me battle these pests?

All answers are appreciated, and I always elect a best answer and always rate 5 stars.

  4. Sprinkle baking soda on the carpet and let it sit for 20 to 30 minutes.  Vac um.  The baking soda will suffocate the fleas.

Use borax outside in the yard and around the outside of the house.

Fleas are attracted to light.  Place a bowl of water on the floor with a light over it.  The fleas will jump in the water and drown.  It really works.  You can buy systems at the pet store but a light and bowl of water is all you need.

You'll need to vacum regularly as the eggs will hatch with a new batch of fleas.  Good luck.

  5. I walked around with old knee length socks sprayed with contact cement. They jumped on the socks with glea. Then I used the spray chemical around the area. That did the job.

  6. They say that a tea spoon of vinegar in a dogs water helps keep fleas off them..how could it hurt a cat! Good luck
