Question:

I'm trying to help my mom open a bakery, any advice?

My mom has been wanting to open a bakery for a while now, but hasn't for multiple reasons.

1st: money...it's not exactly the cheapest thing to open a bussiness, especially when you have three kids.

2nd: space...where exactly is she supposed to set up this little bussiness of hers?

3rd: knowledge...she's not exactly well versed in the bussiness world and is a little cautious about starting up one of her own.

4th: school...she doesn't have a lot of time to go to a school to take classes to be able to open up a bakery, not to mention she's a bit scared to go back to school after so long.

so can anyone help me

give me advice

websites

information

etc.

anything that can help me help my mom open up a bakery like she's been so desperately wanting to for forever??

  1. Maybe she could start out small by getting her food license and permits etc and baking cakes from the home and selling those.  WEdding cakes and special occasion cakes.

She should get involved with some biz mentoring like through the SBA (try sba.gov)  or the BIZ journal for her city to learn how to start out, get financed etc. etc. etc.  Our local library offers small biz seminars and topical informational meetings.
