  1. okay, so for the first one

    6a +2b is equal to twice 3a+b.  So, 6a +2b is equal to 2 (3a+b)

(3a+b)/2(3a+b)= 1/2 or 0.5 (they are the same thing)

    The 3a+b cancel out.

    for the next one,

2x+8 is equal to twice x+4.  So, 2x+8 is 2(x+4)

    2(x+4)/ (x+4)= 2 since the x+4 cancel out.

    -------    =

    2(3a+b)

        1

    ------

        2

cancel numerator to the denominator on the parenthesis because they are both the same....

so the answer is 1/2 one half.....

    2x+8

    ------- =

    x+4

    2(x+4)

    ----------- =

      x+4

        2

    ----=        2

        1

cancel numerator to the denominator on the parenthesis because they are both the same....

  3. 3a+b             3a+b
