  1. you might need to enter a mac id for your computer...

it's really hard to fix something like this online...

    good luck!

  2. make sure that there's a light on the internet port of the router. Check if your computer is on DHCP to check go to Control Panel>Network Connections right-click on the Local Area Connection the select Properties.Double-click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) check if its on Obtain an IP Address automatically if not please choose that option.

Need Free Web Hosting? Go here http://www.000webhost.com/62593.html

  3. I trust you have hooked everything up right, make sure everything is in the correct ports in the back of the router, single port goes to the modem, and (x) out of 4 ports goes to the computer.

Go to the computer and enter this into the address:

    192.168.1.1

    Hit <Enter>

It will ask you for a password and login, leave username blank, and type 'admin' for the password. Without the quotes of course.

You'll be taken to a purple page with everything about the routher, go to the far right menu that says Status, and check if the router has a Default Gateway, an IP, and atleast one DNS.

If it doesn't, unplug your router and modem for 2 minutes, re-plug and try again. If that doesn't work, hotwire the computer straight to the modem and make sure there's a proper signal coming out of it. If you can't get Internet via solely modem, call your ISP. If there IS a signal out of the modem but the router still won't work, look on the bottom of the router or in the manual and call someone up from Linksys. They're nice people, I've dealt with them many times.

    Good Luck!
