  1. To race faster you need to run faster.

    You must do intervals 1 or 2 days each week.

    Something like 800 or 1000 repeats at race pace or faster with a limited rest between.

    If you can do 10x 800 at 3:15 with a 1 minute rest, then you should be able t race much faster than 22 for the 5K.

    Once each week you can do a tempo run where you are running at 80% of maximum.

    You should take one day off each week.

    Alternate hard and easy days.


  2. I have always heared that training on hills makes you faster.  Go to runnersworld.com, they have a whole section on training for 5k's that should help.

  3. You should only run 6 days a week.

  4. I think 22 minutes is a good time for a 5k.  While it will not break any records, it is a good time.  I would like to get my 5k time down to under 25 minutes.
