I'm trying to plan our honeymoon, where would your dream honeymoon location be?

Traditional answers are great (Paris, Italy, Hawaii, etc) but we would most appreciate locations that are a bit more exotic and less standard. Thanks!

  1. Personally, I would love to go to D.C., sleep in the presidental suite of the Jefferson hotel, and wake up every morning to a view of the White House, and think 'someday soon, that will be my house to decorate!' LOL!

Well, I wouldn't want a view of either Bush's White House.

I'd take a Clinton white house.

  2. I think you should go to Time Square in New York or Florida

  3. We spent a week or so in Ireland.  It was fun because we both are Scotch-Irish and could really connect with everything while we were there.  We visited a grave of one of his umpteenth great grandfathers, which was cool.  We also saw a store by someone with my family name, which was also cool.

Exploring our heritage was fantastic.  I'd recommend doing the same thing to you!  (Of course, Ireland was cool because it was Ireland, too!  Make sure you take a waterproof coat!  Avoid water resistant, because that won't cut it.)

  4. We were originally planning on seeing a lot of Ireland, and doing some tours of the stones. Stone Henge is not the only monolith over there - there are hundreds! We were also going to go to England and tour around.

A friend of mine went to Belgium. It is beautiful there, and so much history! Really great!

I also want to visit Greece because I really like Greek Mythology. I think knowing the stories and then seeing the Parthenon would be fabulous.

Another idea was to go to a bunch of the most beautiful churches in Europe, and end with a tour of the Sistine Chapel.

Oh, and Northern France, a few hours' train ride from Paris, has wonderful castles. There are a few you can stay the night in, like a bed and breakfast (they're really comfortable and pretty modern), and then you can take a hot air balloon ride and see all the castles! That would be grand! (I also love train rides.)

  5. We just got back from our honeymoon at the Sandals Royal Bahamanian.  It was absolutely amazing!! Its all inclusive and completely luxurious.  My husband loves food and was able to order two dinners if he felt like it!  The swim up bars are open almost all day and the mini bar in the room is restocked with tons of alcohol and sodas everyday.  Hammocks and lounge chairs and hot tubs are all over the resort and it didn't feel crowded in the least bit.  The staff was soo willing and excited to cater to every romantic need.  I definitely recommend it.

  6. I think it depends on what you want out of your honeymoon.  Do you like big cities, nature, culture, sun, etc.?

My husband I just wanted to get away somewhere relaxing and beautiful where we could enjoy nature, but we're not beach people so none of the tropical places sounded good.  We went to Yosemite National Park in California.  It was fantastic!  We rented a small house, cooked our own meals, slept in, went hiking.  Had an amazing, relaxing time after the stress of the wedding.

Just depends on what you and your fiance want out of it.

  7. Tanzania, on safari.  (We went last year, and it was unbelievable.)

  8. Please check out my photos from Playa del Carmen, Mexico.

My husband and I eloped to Mexico. We stayed at La Tortuga Hotel and Spa. It's not an all inclusive- it is AMAZING! It's voted #1 in Playa. You get free breakfast at the restaurant/bistro every morning, it's adults only, people are SO friendly you'll feel at home instantly, it's the most romantic place ever! Play del Carmen is like in the heart of everything fun in the Yucatan. We did a ton of stuff!

Check out the pics and you'll be blown away to learn that we only spent $1,900 (not incl the flight)! We did it up too- everything we wanted to do we went for it, ate lots of stuff, souvenirs and four big excursions. You will have the time of your lives I promise.

  10. My dream choice is the Maldives.  It looks so beautiful!

I'd love to go here, but I know my fiance's not much of the "spend every day on the beach" type of guy.

We're planning maybe South America or Thailand.
