I'm trying to play spades and cannot figure out how to get seated at a table?

you could   always  just   start  your own table   and  click on sit then  invite   people   to play    they can  only  accept  or  decline  or   if   the  lobby  has  a league  in it   join the league     most  leagues  dont   mind  new members   and if  you are a novice  at spades    most leagues  dont  mind teaching newbies   how to play

Assuming that you're playing on yahoo games, get enter a lobby and click on one of the "sit" buttons at the table list on the top half of the screen.  You have the option of going to a table and just watching too.  Chances are though, if you haven't played before on yahoo, you'll have a provisional (gray) rating.  People are reluctant to play with people who have no experience in spades because it is a partner game.  Try to go to one of the beginner lounges (even if you've played a lot before and consider yourself an expert) and play there.  You'll be a lot more likely to get people to play with you because many people are in the same boat as you.  Once you play 20 rated games, you lose your provisional status and will have a rating, and as long as you're halfway decent at the game, you shouldn't have problems finding people to play.

You might also need to turn off your popup blocker temporarily as the game windows are treated as popups from the lobbies.
