  2. This is definitely in the wrong section first of all.

How do you think you're going to start a successful record label and you can't even put a question in the right category lol??

Anyway, asking on Y! A is not going to help you out. And this is not a good time to start a record company anyway.. the music industry is a little screwy. There are plenty out there already, no need for another.

It won't work, just don't even bother. Go to college and study something stable.

  3. hah! omg, how CUTE r u? u must b my age, AT LEAST!! lol!!!

Everybody knows CDs are the way of the future. ;] hahaha. GOOD TO KNOW someone is old like me though! LOL~ I still have my old 8 tracks!!!

  4. what makes a record label a label and not a promoter or anything else is the manufacture of a physical product. Now in the Internet age this definition needs to be changed to product rather digital or physical. One of the things I would look into 1st is bookings and promotions. Once you have delved into both of these you will have a better idea of your own skill sets for getting the best for your artists.

Here a few steps in the process of starting your own record label.

    Step No.2. Budget your venture:

Step No.3 - The recording process:

Step No.4 - Distributing your music:

Step No.5 - Naming your label:

Step No.6 - Promoting you label:

These steps are explained in a basic format by Emma Drosy. As more and more non-music corporations start their own labels. It becomes vital for artists to understand how to start and operate their own label.

Your question actually comes at a interesting time as I am looking into this subject for my blog starting this week. I hope my initial research helps.

  5. try a limited proprietorship. its the cheapest way to start a business with a little bit of ppl, and you can always expand. Im trying to do [almost] the exact same thing. So go get your LP registration, get your name registered, and your certificates, register with the treasury and stuff for taxes, and you SHOULD be on your way
