I've been told that this could be because of some sort of firewall that can be blocking the connection. So what I need to know is if there's any type of setting I can change on my PC. It has Windows XP installed && I also have AVG Anti-Virus, Norton Security Scan and Spyware Terminator installed. Any help greatly appreciated(:

  1. Check the Windows Security Centre (Start Menu - Control Panel) and see that the Windows Firewall is Off. If your other security programs have firewalls switch those off too.

Make sure that your Norton firewall is On. You must never have more than one firewall on at the same time. If you have more than one they conflict with each other and that's possibly what is happening here.

When your program attempts to access the internet the Norton Firewall will alert you and ask for your permission to proceed - say Yes.

The Norton Firewall is easiest to configure this way unless you are expert. That's why I'm suggesting that it should be your only one in use.

  2. If you have a USB wireless try dusting it. As ridiculous as it sounds same thing happened to me because my computer was dusty.

  3. ask the program makers or click on help

  4. Turn off AVG while you are using it. Altimately it is its firewall that is giving you problems if you can go into AVG and firewall settings and allow the app to make outbound connections then do that, but if you don't know how just turn off firewall while using the app and ask a savy friend to change the firewall settings later.

  5. Firstly, the prorams you have mentioned, have nothing to do with firewalls.Secondly,if all you have enabled is the windows firewall, then, this only protects you from inbound threats, and blocks nothing outbound.Lastly, what is this program that requires to connect to the internet ? check your security center,to see what,if any firewall you have.I would be very suspicious of a program, that requires access, unless it was very trusted.

    Security Center> start>all programs>accessories>system tools>security centre
