Question:

I'm turning vegan. What should I eat?

I was a vegetarian for about a year. I ate only vegetables, fruits, eggs, milk, but no fish or meat. Now I'm thinking about going vegan but I've heard that there are some pills I'm going to have to be taking in order to make up for the proteins and vitamins I'm not going to consume through meat, milk eggs... So what are the pills called, where can I get them, and are there any side effects?

Oh, and one more thing, right now I'm taking ordinary vitamin pills, suited for anyone. Are those enough or do I really need these specified?

  1. 1. You should avoid savory foods for one week even vegan savory cuisine and have a one week fasting. I've done this to practice my tongue and my stomach for being vegan if your a middle class.

    2. Other people would say you should quit, that is not healthy, that too expensive, that's....#@!$% etc.

    3. Look for vegan source of Vitamin B12 and Vitamin D which is available in your town/city if your middle class or lower. Yeast for vitamin B12 and Shiitake, and Sun for vitamin D if you don't want pills. Spirulina tablets have Vitamin D and Vitamin B12(controversial)

    4. Don't take pills for protein. Protein is not a problem for vegan society. Beans nuts and rice are only few examples.

    5. Find the nearest Vegan restaurant or shop in your town/city.

6  Find some healthy vegan recipes.

    7. Be natural as possible. Some vegans are not careful. Some do it with a lot of MSG and other unhealthy flavor enhancers. I have also have a very high sodium intake during my first two weeks but I studied very well so my sodium is low now.

    8. Health is also important not just for you but to prove it to other people(particularly you family and friends) that vegan diet is health, s**y, comfy, clean and free from stress from killed animals.

    9. Not only the diet. You should also avoid using leather, silk, white sugar and other which are derived from animal, used animal labor or used animal parts for something.

    10. you can exclude my answer #1 if you want to.

    11. you should know more about veganism.

  2. i've just earned 2 points!

  3. No idea about pills, but you could try lentils and other pulses to make up for protein lack.

If you're eating lots of fruit and veg, you probably don't need vitamin pills any more than the next person. I would check out protein and calcium supplements though - maybe go to a pharmacy and ask?

  4. Lots of jello.

  5. If you're eating healthily you don't need vitamin pills because the food you eat makes up for it. Try eating lots of pulses to make up for lost protein and keep eating those veggies!

  6. If I were you I wouldn't risk using pills because , as you said, their could be side effects that you could get. I personally would eat a range of nuts and lentils to make up for the protein you won't be consuming.

    * I also recommend seeing a doctor before doing a change in diet as he/she may advise against it*

    Hope I Helped
