Question:

I'm uncomfortable using tampons, any tips?

Seriously.

I'm uncomfortable with /anything/ going /anywhere/ in my "area".

And it didn't help that my mom got Super Plus tampons on my first try with one. The pain was unbearable, and even if I get the smallest size, I'm still going to have doubts. The last thing I need to do is rip anything(I'm like, the most sensitive person ever, physically as well as emotionally), weather it needs to be done sooner or later or not.

  1. There certainly is no rush to use tampons if they make you uncomfortable.  The only situations that really call for tampons are for sports and swimming.

I had a lot of trouble using tampons in the beginning.  Make sure you are very relaxed when trying to insert the tampon... either standing in a slight squat, sitting on the toilet, etc... find what's comfortable for you.

Also, get the thinnest tampons possible (plastic applicators are easier to insert) and try putting a little bit of vaseline on the tip to help it go in.

You also need to be mindful of angling.. sometimes angling it in and back works best, but just go very slowly and see where you feel like it can go.

You can also try standing over a mirror or sitting on the toilet/floor with one to find exactly where you need to put it.

And if you find that having the string hanging out of you makes you uncomfortable, you can just tuck it inside the side of your v***a so it doesn't hang down.

Good Luck!!  And please remember, there is no rush.  Use tampons when you are comfortable.  But if you're determined, don't give up!  It took me tons of tries before I got comfortable.

  2. honey, you need to relax. you are probably tense and that doesnt help either. you need to stick it pretty far up there. when i first started using tampons it would always take me a few tries, now im a pro!!! sorta anyways :] sometimes I still have to try again.. but using a tampon when your flow is very light will cause tearing because the blood is not really there so "lube it up"....  so there are a few ways to insert a tampon easily... you could squat and spread your legs, or you could stand up and put one leg on the toilet and insert the tampon that way. just no matter what be relaxed. and yes supers are far too large especially for when youre just getting used to them. try to find them with the plastic applicator too such as Tampax Pearl. Those are the best I have used. Cardboard applicators are just no fun .. Good luck girl I hope everything works out for you

  3. Try to relax as much a s possible I know it is very hard to do because I had the same trouble. It was very painful for me the first time i used one & it turned me right off but now I use them all the time. so relax & try & not think about it so much, find a position your most comportable in while inserting them! that can go along way as well. use the slim tampons to practice with and keep on trying untill you get it. good luck

  4. there will come a time in your life where that "discomfort" goes away.  When you are comfortable enough to touch down there..then try it again..nothing wrong with waiting to wear tampons. I was 11 when I got my period and 15 before I could wear them.  you may be 25 even..but someday you will be ready to try it...Good luck
