Question:

I'm using a LOC on car stereo... too much distortion when I turn the bass up. Do I need an EQ or other device?

I have a Blaupunkt 12'' and a Polk Amp. The bass was of course better when I had it hooked thru the back of the stereo in the old car. But this time I chose to use a line out converter and knew the sound would be affected, but I didnt know it would be this distorted when I turned the bass up. Are there any devices I can hook up thru the stereo to adjust the bass? I have an AUX port BTW.

  1. Does you LOC have level control dials?  If so, try turning them down then adjust the gain control on the amplifier to compensate.  If not, purchase an LOC that allows you to adjust the output.

  2. Line Out Put converter can only control the level of volume its converting. You can try and tone down the bass from the radio, but realistically a new radio with sub woofer control will be more efficient.
