I'm 13 and I've been on a plane about 6 times, but I'm really scared because I always hear on the news some terrorist tries to create a bomb. I've told my mom, my dad, my friend, my cousin, but they all tell me I'll be fine. I'm not convinced. Please comfort me or try to convince me

  1. Other than the guy trying to light his shoe, there haven't been any bombs on a plane in years!  What would make you think the very plane you'll be on will be the first?  You are be irrational and should just enjoy your trip!

  2. don't worry about it!

  3. Don't let the scare tactics control you. The media just likes to create fear mongering for ratings. Just enjoy the ride.

  4. Think about it...there are MILLIONS maybe BILLIONS of planes flying on the day you are flying.  Its like 1 out of 1000000 chance that it will be the plane YOU are flying on...don't be scared...=D

  5. There is no reason to be scared. I don't think too much about terrorists but whenever there is turbulence I get quite worried convincing myself the plane is about to crash! But think about this...there is hundreds of planes in the sky the same time as you and so many go every day and how many attacks have you heard of related to terrorists? to mind I can think of about 2. So dont worry yourself. If it is a holiday you are going on just think of how amazing it will be once you land and get to your destination. If you are really worried, just sleep through the flight or take a couple of sleeping pills and before you know it you will of arrived safe and sound! Have a great time anyway wherever you are going.

  6. I am scared of flying and I am 35! I have flown many times and still find it hard.  I always take it in stages.  Once we have taken off I tell myself that that is the worst bit over with.  Then during flight I convince myself that planes generally dont fall out of the sky once they are up there.  Then when we are landing  I tell myself it will all be over in 5 mins.

Other than that I listen to music to take my mind off it (and drink a bit, but I guess that won't be an option at 13 :)

  7. Take your headphones with your favorite music.   Do you have a handheld game?   That will help pass the time.   It is EXTREMELY rare that anything will go wrong, so try to relax and hopefully you are going on vacation and will have lots of fun.

  8. theres nothing to be scared of.

  9. You shouldn't have anything to be worried about. Thousands of flights go out a day, and how many terrorist attacks are there? You've been on a plane 6 times, and you came out ok. Just take a 3 hour nap and it'll be over before you know it.

  10. its totally fine. ive been on planes so many times, and i used 2 be scared of the same exact thing. there arent terrorists like that anymore...ALOT of security checks. even if no1 convinces you, you know that ur gonna be alright when you get off of the plane, so just keep thinking that cause u know tht its true

  11. Awww.  Well, I understand honey, 'cuz I get nervous myself.  But it's a very common fear.  Only the chance of being on a plane where something like that happens is really so remote.  Airline security is much, much tighter than it used to be.  They don't want any disasters on their record because it could put them out of business.  So airlines are very serious about keeping their passengers safe.  There is no way to totally convince you - if you're like me - because you'll always think about that chance in a zillion.  LOL  But the odds are definitely in your favor.  Just try to relax, keep yourself occupied...and in 3 short hours, you'll be at your destination safe and sound.  Have a great trip. :)

  12. So? Some terrorist tries to create a bomb everyday.

How many planes have you heard of recently brought down by a terrorist bomb? I haven't heard of any.

You will be just fine. Don't let the media, who always makes everything in the world sound dangerous and evil, keep you from living life!

  13. Dont worry. you are more ikely to die from a champagne cork than on a plane. the airports now have new machines that can actually "see" bomb equipment and even liquid bomb if its even in a shampoo bottle. and also, youll be with your mom and its only 3 hours. if you get real worried about it, take some meds. and also, bring with some gum. that calms down your nerves and keeps your ears from making that popping noise, but you might already know that since youve been on planes before. everything will be fine, just stay calm and think nice thoughts ok? youlll be fine and i hope you have a great time whereever you are going! i went on a 9 hour flight to this place completely over the ocean the whole time and im deathly afraid of water. i was fine though, so you will be fine to!! i hope this helps and you wil be fine ok? have fun!

  14. take a train?... only thing I can think of.. take a nap while your up there, it will be over in no time.

  15. be assured that most things you hear on the radio or see on TV, etc are there to scare you. I know this may seem funny (why would TV want to scare me?) but its a tool that the media to keep the public under control.

Statistically, traveling by airplane is the safest way to travel. you are more likely to get into a car accident then to die on an airplane ride. the security at airports nowadays is sooooo strict, that no-one gets bombs on planes.

seriously, chill out. i think ridin a plane is cool cuz you go so faaast

  16. a plane takes off and lands at heathrow (london) every 30 seconds, there are 4000 aircraft in the air in the united states at any given time, and thousands of others world wide, terrorists will most likely target a soft target that is unprotected, and air travel is very very security conscious so I dont think you should worry, the most dangerous part of your journey will be the drive to the airport.

  17. Don`t worry about you flight. There is a very low probability that something awful would happen. You should be safe during your travels.

  18. Apparently you haven't seen post 9/11 airport security... If any terrorist were to try and take over your plane.. One of the air marshals would blow their heads off... So all you have to worry about is seeing some terrorist get his head blown all over the cabin.. I'd worry more about engine failure, now that would be scary...

  19. bring music

    bring something to eat

bring something to read or watch

and a bomb being in a plane is not very likely

  20. You need to remind yourself of this fact:

Air travel (even with terrorism) is the safest form of travel. Basically every time you get in a car, bus, train or boat you take a higher risk of being killed.  That is a fact.

During take off and landing, try to relax and breath and keep your mind empty.  Take something to do or read to keep your mind off the journey.

And remember, air travel is still the safest method of public transport !!!

It will be fine, that is why your family are telling you this.

  21. juss dnt worry bout it im 13 too nd i luvv plane rides juss talk to dah ppl next to u nd stuff n muzzik

  22. I am a pilot for JetBlue

it will be fine, the odds are 1 in a million

it will never happen to you...trust me

    email me for information

  23. When was the last time you heard that?
