  4. Day to day life is just as expensive as you choose it to be. Food you can buy at supermarkets or restaurants. Jusr what you prefer, but for a 1-month holiday I would estimate a general cost of about €500 to €750. Sleeping and food. If you start clubbing, anything can happen and that I can't include here. Women with Blond hair will have a much cheaper night in the town if they like, then fat white middle aged man.

  5. Hi :

I have visited Brazil on several occasions, and I find the people helpful and friendly.

To travel , I would buy an air pass :

The Brazil Air Pass offered by*  TAM Brazilian Airlines and Transbrasil is the most practical and economical way to travel within the country.

Available only to foreigners and Brazilians residing abroad (we can only sell the Air Pass for those departing from the USA or Europe) holding a round trip ticket to Brazil. Pass is not transferable; only one Air Pass per passenger and it must be purchased before departure from the USA or Europe.

It is valid for 21 days from the date of the first used flight coupon . Flights must be booked and confirmed for whole itinerary. Other restrictions may apply. Currently there are three kinds of Air Pass available:

    I have a good Travel agent :info@offtobrazil.com.

I would try to buy a good guidebook , either Lonely Planet or,

    Footprints.

In most places on can get decent accomodation for about $50 a night. In Rio , check out Craiglists.org for Bed and Breakfast.

Most hotels give a good breakfast..In Rio do not stay in Ipanema , or Copacaba , hotels are much cheaper at Botofogo , or Flemengo.

Food is very cheap , and try eating in Kilos places .

There are self service and you pay by the kilo.

In both Rio and Sao Paulo , the subway is fairly safe .

During the night, becareful walking and take a cab to go places.

During the day , use your common sense, and don't show Cameras etc.

I prefer the cities in the North East , also the Historical cities of Minas Gerias are worth going. Also I would go to Parati , about 4 hours south of Rio by bus.

Please remember that the dollar has crashed against the Real, so Brazil is not as cheap to Americans as a couple of years ago.
