I'm going to Germany on the 27th of February for 12 days. We have a rental car and will be traveling all over in Germany. If anyone has visited/ lived in Germany, what did you most enjoy seeing? We are going to a couple castles the Romantic road, Munich, Berlin, Frankfurt, and Hamburg to name a few. I don't know if this helps but I speek a small amount of German and my Dad speaks it fluently so communication is not a problem and my father is familiar with most areas in Southern Germany so traveling is not a problem either. Any suggestions of where to visit would be great. Thanks!

  1. go to cologne .and see dom church...

  2. Don´t stay in Southern Germany the whole time. I know, southern  Germany looks like what you expect from Germany, but it´s not the "true" Germany! It´s the Germany for tourists.

Go to Dresden and visit the Semper opera, go to Hamburg and visit the old harbor, Bremen is very nice too! Bremen is a very old city with many things to see!

And don´t forget Berlin! Visit the Brandenburger Tor and the german national museum! And of course the castle Charlottenburg in Berlin! It´s so beautiful! Close to Berlin is another castle called "Sans soucis". It was built for a french King and is very beautiful too!

And visit our parliament in Berlin! (Called Bundestag).

Bonn (our old capital) is not soo interesting.

Lübeck (close to Hamburg) is interesting, too. They have a company there that is producing the "Lübecker Marzipan". A nice city that still looks like the cities around 1850.

Hope my english was ok, have fun and try to see the real Germany! :-)
