I'm visiting Ireland for the first time with my Father end of June/July 2008 for 10 days. Flying into Dublin.

Question

Will spend 3 days in Dublin touring. Need suggestions...should we rent a car and drive the coast? What are the most sees besides Dublin?

There's enough public transport in Dublin to get around for 3 days. Outside of Dublin, I would seriously recommend renting a car.

If you're interested in quiet town life there are plenty of them just outside of Dublin (Naas, Athlone, Bray, Wicklow, Trim, Kells...etc).

If you're into mountains the best place is the South West, primarily around Killarney, Castleisland, Macroom and Trallee.

If you like quiet country walks and fishing I honestly have to recommend the Clare side of Lough Derg.

If you like seaside holidays then anywhere on the West coast should be adequet, (eg, Lahinch, Westport, Tralee, Bantry, Donegal.
