My best friend has gone home for the summer. We're moving in together when he comes back to the city.

I'm going up to see him on Saturday night and staying at his parents house.

I feel I should bring his parents a gift. What should I bring?

Should I just bring something for his mum, or for both his parents?

I was thinking just flowers or something, should I bring something else or is that okay?

  1. Pie or some type of cheesecake...

  2. Flower or chocolate, the mum would be very happy by your kindness.

  3. Flowers are lovely.  Wine, fancy jams, a plant, pastries they can serve for breakfast.

  4. Flowers are nice. Who says no to flowers? Maybe some chocolates would be nice as well. It's very nice of you to think along those lines, and not something many people do these days so I'm sure they'll appreciate any gesture.

  5. Don't go for wine and flowers, it says "I picked these up at the last minute".

Make some homemade cookies or muffins. It shows you care enough to take time out of your day to make them.

Put them in a nice basket or bowl that they can use.

  6. I am a proud parent, and all I would ask is to see the return-ticket

  7. ...if she's not a good cook, maybe you should bring a stomach pump, that may prove to be very helpful.

  8. Hand-cuffs and a Gimp-Mask.......

  9. Maybe meet them first, without a gift, get to know them, be introduced as yourself, and their sons friend, without shoving a gift under their noses, then either buy them a gift during your stay, or at the end to say 'thank-you'.

You could buy the gift, a bottle of wine maybe, and keep it stored away in your hand luggage, until your visit is over, this way, they will appreciate your thoughtfulness, and your appreciation of their hospitality.
