Can you "draw" on a cake rather than decorate w/the bag of icing. I'm doing Speed Racer and I can draw the guy, but not sure that I could do it w/that bag of icing. Is there anything out there that makes this sort of thing easier?

  1. There are "cake pens" or food coloring gel in small tubes you can use. You could also use a small paint brush to brush on colored icing to make it look more like a painting than a drawn picture.

  2. http://www.kitchenkrafts.com/product.asp...

    you could try these;

    although i have tried something similar from the grocery store

    and they did not work too well.

    but maybe its just me : )

  3. You could do a frozen buttercream transfer:  draw your picture, then cover it with a piece of waxed paper or parchment paper.  (Keep in mind, the image will be reversed on the cake when you're done, if you add any words this way you have to write them mirrored).  Use a small round tip on a frosting bag to trace your drawing.  Put it in the freezer and let the outlines freeze up, then take it out and fill in with color.  Put the whole thing back in the freezer and let it get hard.  When you're done frosting the cake, take the buttercream transfer out and put it, frosting side down, on the cake.  Then peel off the waxed paper.

  4. There are actually cake pens! ... You can get them wherever they sell cake decorating supplies.......(food color "ink")

  5. Try using a toothpick.  Then use your icing to color in between the lines.
