  1. Hello, no matter what you want to do, I am sure you will enjoy this place. If you are looking to be in the happening area of Goa, you want to stay in North Goa, Calungute, Anjuna. Goa is famous for its beaches. Waters are warm compared to the Pacific ocean, so you will love it. There are quite a few American brand hotels/resorts like Marriott, Ramada, Holiday Inn, Intercontinental, in South Goa, where there are less tourists, however, inexpensive accommodations are also available. Please make sure you read/ask for reviews before you decide on any hotel. Here are some helpful links,..

Quite a few hotels offer sightseeing tours with the hotel stay. I think that is good, so one does not have to haggle with local taxis. I understand you can rent motorcycle taxis. You can use if you are alone.

  2. goa has the usual beaches - calangute, baga. anjuna etc in north goa.  in south goa there are colva, betalbateim etc. betalbateim is a good secluded beach if u dont want too many tourists around.

the other touristy thing is temples and churches in south goa.

the forts - chapora/aguada / anjuna are not so touristy, but hvae visitors nevertheless.

other things that can be done is to take an evening cruise down the mandovi river off panjim - they take u to an islnd where there is a song and dance show.

you could also see the old portuguese style buildings in panjim - some are very picturesque

the above thngs are touristy - for non touristy stuff - just go with the flow and do your own thing - whether it is picking up ur drink and sitting on the beach for hours - if u can find a secluded beach (like betalbateim (south goa) or madorim (north goa) that is very good, else take a fishing rod and go fishing in the mandovi or other water body.  bottom line is just chill and u will have fun.
