Question:

I'm wonder what breeds my puppy could be?

I recently adopted a puppy. The shelter labeled her as a lab mix, but I see no lab in her. She has an under bit, so I'm pretty sure she has some boxer in her, and as she gets older she looks more pit bullish, with the pink eyes and nose. But she's very tall and skinny and not muscular like boxers and pit bulls should be. Her stance is a little odd too, her back legs are slightly higher than the front. She also has green eyes, so I was wonder if any breeds fit these characteristics.

  1. ZERO pitbull.

Boxer lab mix it looks like.  Definatley a boxerish face.

EDIT:  Boxer, and lab pups *even pitbulls* are often long and gangly with narrow skulls and long faces, it's like the awkward teenager stage.  You cannot base the breed guessing off of length of limb, snout, or width of head while being a puppy.

  2. I think she is a boxer/ choaolate lab. To find out for sure you can get a DNA test done on her. I got a DNA test on my puppy abd hes a mut that looks like a border collie but is a husky. Ya so she could be anything

  3. really cute dog, maybe boxer mix? Can't really tell with her laying down. Would need more of a side view to get a guestimate on her.

  4. Definitley a lab mix! The brown is really rich like a chocolate lab, which I have. She could be a bit boxer, a bit pitbull & a bit lab. Most mutts tend to be boxer/pitbull mixes. Either way, she's adorable :).

  5. if you really want to be sure of what the dogs breed is, do a dna test.

    here is a link

  6. Her ears definitely look like a labs. I see some boxer as well, so i think she is a lab-boxer mix.

  7. she looks like a pit bull to me

    its very cute!!!

  8. I definitely see lab in her and boxer too. That's my guess. You could take her to a dog expert or breeder or a vet or someone and see what they think - they'd probably know better but just looking at that picture I would say lab x boxer. :) she's gorgeous whatever she is anyway!

  9. That's a Pit Bull if you ask me!  I have a 3 month old Pit Bull and aside from the colouring, that's her.  Mine doesn't have an under bite, but any breed can accidentaly have one.   Yours seems to have longer legs though, so maybe she's a Pit Boxer X.  And her colouring is a Pit Bull colour.

At any rate, she's a great looking dog, and Pit Bulls are some of the best dogs.  They are smart, loyal and, contrary to popular myths, the are friendly and loving and great family dogs.

Just make sure to socialize her, as any breed has the possiblity for aggression if not handled well.

  10. APBT mix...lab maybe

her head is to big for a boxer

  11. looks like a lab boxer mix

  12. I see Chocolate Lab and Boxer in her. No Pit bull. But she is relaly adorable!!

  13. Hmm, you know what? I think I see a bit of boston terrier in her.

  14. shes cute it looks to me like a chocolate lab maybe boxer but has more of a pitt face i think shes very pretty pup........ please get her shots and hve her fixed so you wont end up with unwanted pups latter when she gets older she should be able to be fixed around before her first heat about 6mo. old i believe but have this done check with your vet on how old she has to be to be fixed............

  15. Definitely no boxer - she is, to my mind a weimaraner x something, but the something isn't boxer. Her face is, rather too 'stubby' but she fits the rest of the wermaraner characteristics. It's not a boxer face, though, her skull isn't wide enough (though 2 German breeds is a nice thought, though!)

The other reason I think she's part weimaraner is the "pink eyes and nose" - as that is characteristic of the breed (assuming you mean around the eye - only an albino animal will have truly pink eyes; a weimaraner's eyes are either amber or blue-grey). I've just looked again and her eyes look amber to me - definitely mostly weimaraner.

Never come across a dog with green eyes - but all animals suffer 'green eye' when photographed; just like we suffer 'red eye'.

She is not stocky enough to be a Labrador x Boxer. She's too lithe, her limbs are too long and she's smooth coated.

  16. i'm pretty sure that is a lab-boxer mix.

    what a cute doggy :]

  17. She looks like a Boxer/Pit bull/Great Dane mix.......I can really see the Great Dane in her legs and in some of her facial features.....

Also you said "she's very tall and skinny and not muscular like boxers and pit bulls should be. Her stance is a little odd too, her back legs are slightly higher than the front" these are characteristics of Great Dane pups.....as they grow either the front end or back end will be slightly higher.

Here is a pic of my Great Dane at about 3 months of age.....notice the similarity in the legs.

And a facial shot, some similarities there too, mostly with shape....my Great Dane is about 3 months in this photo as well. Your puppy definitely has more boxer/pit bull characteristics in the face, but I do see some similarities.
