  1. The United Kingdom of Great Britain consists of four countries, it is not a state.

    The four countries are...

    1) England

    2) Northern Ireland

    3) Scotland

    4) Wales

    London is in the country of England and is therefore part of the UK.

  2. England= a country

    Scotland= a country

    Wales= a country

    England, Wales and Scotland= Britain

    Britain + Northern Ireland (a country) = The UK

    London= capital of England

    Cardiff= capital of Wales

    Edinburgh= capital of Scotland

    Belfast= capital of Northern Ireland

  3. The full name is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland . It comprises the countries of Scotland , Wales , England and Northern Ireland . Southern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland is an independent nation . The United Kingdom was formed in 1603 after the death of the English Queen Elizabeth She had no children and James Vl of Scotland became the first King of the Scotland , England and Wales . The countries kept their own parliaments until 1707 when both the English and Scottish Parliaments were abolished and the Parliament based in London at Westminster became the first parliament of the United Kingdom . Since then things have change . Scotland , Wales and Ireland have now devolved Parliaments in their own countries lgislating on such matters as education , health and transport . The UK Parliament covers matters such as defence . Strangely enough England now is the only one of the countries with no Parliament of its own !! The UK Parliament votes on English matters and Scots , Welsh and Irish MPs can vote on purely English matters but English MPS have no votes in any of the devolved legislatures

  4. Oi wheres scotland off that!!!

  5. Okay I'll try not to confuse you too much

    Great Britain is the old name dating back to the days of the British Empire

    United Kingdom - applied later It includes Northern Ireland, But not Eire ( southern ireland)

    Yes many people suggest Great Britain means England,  It means english ruled, Some would like to see Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and Cornwall as Independent countries. Some people do not consider themselves as British, so they suggest british means english, Like I consider myself to be Scottish.

    I hope that helped a little........................ ?

  6. ask any Scottish and he will kill you........England is a country in the Great Britain and London is in England which is in the Great Britain, UK and GB are the same.

  7. The full name of the UK is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

    Great Britain is the name of the island that contains England, Wales, and Scotland. It's geographical, not political; when used politically, it's synonymous with the UK.

    Northern Ireland is the northern part of Ireland, the smaller of the British Isles, whose people decided to stay as part of the UK while the rest of the island declared independence. Thus, Northern Ireland and Ireland are two different countries.

    British now means English, Welsh, Scottish, or Northern Irish.

    London is the capital of both England and the UK.
