I'm worried about something. How common is bird flu?

I bought my ducklings this used cage I found at a Goodwill. It was big and sturdy so I liked it. When I got it home, I hosed it off and then dried it. I've been using it for about a week.Well today, this thought crossed my mind. What if the people's birds that were in it before mine had bird flu? Now I think that my ducklings and I are going to get it. Should I stay worried or am I freaking out over nothing? I can't stop worrying about it. What is the chance of it having bird flu? Thanks.

  1. It is not very common take a deep breath and don't worry. The proper way to prepare a used cage and follow up cleanings is to power wash the cage get all droppings off of it then spray it entirely with a solution of 1 part bleach to 10 parts water...let stand for ten minutes then powersh again let dry/bake in the sun (did you know the sun is anaturall disinfectant?) You can take them out and do this now if it will help put your mind at ease!
