Question:

I'm worried about taking AP courses this year

I'm taking three AP classes this year: Psychology, Art History, and Calculus. I'm not a very hard working student and I'm not taking them for the AP test - I'm just interested in them. I like Psych and Art, and I figured since I'm interested in engineering I should probably have a higher understanding of math than just Algebra and Geometry. I've been stuck in honors classes since 6th grade, but most teachers treat every class exactly the same.

Do you have any advice for me? I don't study much, but I don't go anywhere outside of school either.

  1. I'm about to take two honor's classes, so I think I may know how you feel.  I'd suggest that you get organized and start to use a planner, so you always know where your books and things are and so you can "budget" your time so you know exactly how often you'll be studying and researching.

  2. Well I wouldn't advise you to take the AP classes if you're not going to take the AP test because that's the whole point of it. People take APs so they can take the test and get college credit. If you're just interested in the subject, but don't want to study so much for the class, you should take the regular version of those classes. I'm sure they have it. And it's going to be a lot harder to earn decent grades in the AP classes. I'm taking AP Biology, AP Statistics, and AP English next year, but that is because I want to take the test for college.
