  1. edward cullen.

  2. my favorite kind of books are mystery ones not like nancy drew but more like goosebumps. mysteries with a twist!

  3. A out of body type wording like say a hurricane hits miami you might hear a radio annoucer but hes not a charecter.

  4. Fluidity. It needs to flow in such a way you get drawn in. Even simple things get annoying quickly sometimes.

    Example:

    "Hi," he said.

    "Hi," she said.

    "Well," he said.

    "Yes," she said.

    That constant he said, she said pulls me out of the conversation and makes me not want to read it any more. Also, build the character without having to necessarily give a long description. No need to say "he stood 6'2". Brown hair, blue eyes. Very lean. blah, blah" Fine to throw details in there, of course. Just don't kill it. Some of my favorite authors (Adam Hall, Orson Scott Card, Richard Adams) either let you describe the character in your own mind, or make you forget the soldier you're reading about is actually only 9, or the main character is a rabbit and shouldn't be talking in your world.

  5. Love is the best part of ANY story.

  6. NO DIOLAGE OR PROLOUGHE plz those are sooo boring!

  7. To me, humor (a hint of sarcasm) and intelligence are two keys to a good book. When I say "intelligence", I mean that the book is written well, and there are no grammatical mistakes at all.

  8. i cant choose a favorite book because i like a few equally

    but i can tell u what i like about them

    I like a book that has something new around every corner

    something that keeps me reading and u need a little bit of everthing

    drama/adventure/ romance/horror/ect.

    that is what makes the best books

  9. If I was reading your book I would look for details, interesting things, more than 4 people about what your writing and good ccontextwitha story to begin it, also something that would make readers want to keep reading the book and want more.

  10. Well it depends what your genre your writing in. Most young adults like myself are interested in fantasy, like Harry Potter or Twilight. There are some ideas to start with. Most people look for a book that they relate to, so you could try and make it as real as you can. You could have a read of some different genres of young adult books to get some ideas. For myself i don't like books that you can predict what is going to happen, i like books that you get a surprise in what happens. And nearly every book has a happy ending, it would be good to see a book that doesn't end like a fairy tale.

    Hope this helps!

  11. romance, horror, and gore

  12. I'm pretty open to any genre/topic, but i usually go for realistic fiction. Like, i wouldn't discriminate on books on what they're about because it's the author's creation. Even if it was a book I don't really enjoy. you know?

    Just think your story through, basically. A page turner that you can't put down. Something with a piece of everything. A work of literature you can respect :)

  13. Interesting characters that are still likable and believable.  Not all have to be likable, just the main one(s), and then it's as much a matter of being able to relate as actually liking them.

    Premise is really important.  You want something unique that will make your book stand out.

    I also prefer books that are well-written to one that are mediocre, but that's not the most important thing.  Great story telling can sometimes make up for the prose.  Still, it helps. ^^

    Hmm... I like Jake in Twilight, but that's about it.  Most everything about the series was... bad... character, plot, prose, vampire lore... yeah... >.<;

  14. I personally like books where the characters' roles change...like, antagonist to protagonist (and maybe back again). Also, i like books where there is a really thick, in depth plot

  15. Romance and plot twists =]

    Edit: I'd really like to read even if it never gets finished. Feel free to email me and we can exchange stories perhaps?

  16. good action

    maybe a few heartbreaks, but make sure your a really good writer, cause bably written heartbeaks are lame

    humor

    strong villians

  17. A gripping plot line that never lets you go and keeps you turning the  pages. I like non fiction the best but  fiction is ok from time to time

    as well I hope that your book is a smashing success

    best wishes on your book

    Janice

  18. unpredictable events, complex grammer at least 6th grade level

  19. Young Adult books.

    Well I just turned 17 so I think I still count in this section.

    It depends what type of book you would like to write.

    If I'm reading a romance novel I always look for a surprising twist at the end. It can't be the simple. Boy meets girl. Boy falls in love with girl. Boy and Girl have fight. Ends with Boy and Girl making up and falling in love. You know? The book ( and movie ) The Notebook was a real tear jerker for me. And it ended with a twist.

    Fantasy. Well The Harry Potter series was just fa nominal. How it was a completely mad up world that I can fall into. I like something that can take me away while I'm reading it. With made up objects and people with powers and unique gifts.

    I'm not into the normal teenage girl/boy drama books.

    Such as the clique books about girls who just always have fights amongst themselves. I think its more interesting to read a romance novel or a fictional story.

    I hope I helped.

    Email me if you have any more questions.

    XOXO,

    Jenna.

  20. Characters that I can relate to.

    Detail ( not too much not too little)

    Short Chapters (makes you feel accomplished)

  21. Well i am still a big fan of the book.  Time travelers wife- by audrey Niffenfigger( i think that's how u spell her name?)  Anyway i loved her book for these reasons:

    * You felt as though u knew or were the characters....

    Very open honest characters, very intimate information that gets u to feel as though u knew or could relate strongly to the characters.

    * Be  descriptive- but not rambling.

    * It was creative and original

    * Sad and Very funny

    * Things actually happened frequently so u didnt want to put the book down.

    * Different.

    * Thought provoking

    * Intelligent

    Well , im not much of a reader but i read this book over a couple of days because I just couln't put it down.  I hope u find your inspiration of what u want to write about soon and i hope that i have helped..  GOOD LUCK

  22. I look for books in certain genres, historical fiction, fantasy, and science fiction. I also read non-fiction...mostly technical stuff about my hobbies..

    In fiction, I look for certain authors..from there a good plot that doesn't wander, not too wordy, that grabs my attention in the first chapter....

  23. Have a good beginning, because that gets your reader hooked from the start.

    In my favorite books, the thing I like the most is that I can relate to it. Make your characters and plot real and true to life. GOOD LUCK!

    P.S. No offense to whoever wrote it, but I would ignore the advice that tells you not to use dialogue. Definitely use dialogue!! It makes the story more interesting.

  24. I like to read books that have relatable characters and real places.  This gives me a sense of connection and whets my appetite to read more.

    Personally, I am fond of the suspense genre.  My favorite author is - and has been for years - Stephen King.  Although his stories are "otherworldly", there is a strong sense of realism in the settings and characters.

    Best of luck.

  25. Romance and a protagonist I can relate and like.

  26. Usually its the artwork of a book that catches my eye.

    I really hate stories that are predictable. (like a women walking in on her boyfriend cheating on her).

    I really like it when the story is about things that tie together and somehow connect. Like the Show "Lost"

  27. Hmm, I would say both excitment and humour. It has to be intriguing- take Harry Potter fo example. That book is packed full unique ideas/situations that no one else could possibly have come up with. It should be clear that youv'e put a lot of time and effort into it. And yeah, humour. Especially as its a young adult book.

    Good Luck, and I'll have a read when its in book stores!! =]

  28. i like the twilight series by stephenie meyer.. it is the romance and thriller that makes people keep reading it. my advise to you is to just let it flow.. pick a topic and just start writing about

  29. i always enjoy a historical book.  as a young girl I enjoyed teen romance books that were based in historical fact--I enjoyed reading about true love and at the same time learning some history

  30. great characters, good story line

  31. Fantastic characters, plot, setting, etc...

    -I want to be able to care or hate(what is projected) the characters. I want to understand the characters, make them believable and relatable.

    -A good plot should be original. If it's not THAT original, it better be one heck of a wonderful story. I dont' want to read a knock off of Twilight. I want the plot to be interesting. I want to be not be able to put the book down because I have to know what happens next.

    -I want to be able to understand what time the book is in. I want to know where the characters are. I don't want to be reading a book thinking the story takes place in the USA, when it's actually taking place in a magical fantasy land.

    -I want to feel EMOTIONS!!!!!! That's the big one! I want to cry when something amazing happens in the book, or if someone dies. I want to feel sympathetic for the characters and what's going on in the book. I want to feel what the character/s feel! If I didn't, it'd be a plain and boring book where I could care less on what happens in the end.

    As for genre, I like sooo many. Most all except horror. I hate horror(and mystery) books. They're always cheesy, predictable, and non-scary. I read a book to feel scared. I read a book to feel happy, thrilled, excited, curious.

    My favorite genres are romance and comedy. I LOVE to yell at the characters in the book saying how perfect they are for each other. I LOVE to cry when they finally confess their love and share a first kiss. I LOVE to cry when something bad happens to one of the characters or someone dies. I LOVE LAUGHING!!! Remember, cheese(cheesy stuff) is not always a bad thing. Sarcastic is good, but not too much.

    The main thing is to make the readers feel emotion! Make them care about the characters and what happens in the book.
