i brought the switch from maplins and its proudct code is N84AR. its a dpdt locking foot switch, there are 6 metal "tabs" for soldering onto but i am unsure which ones i solder, im making a channel switching pedal with 4 core wire, so i need to solder two of the cores, to two different tabs of this switch( and then repeat it for a second switch, hense the four cores). The switch is labeled "Alpha and then the legs are labeled 1, 2, 3. Does anybody know which leg i am supposed to solder the wires to, thanks for your help

  1. no idea boss!!

  2. Use an ohmmeter to determine which contacts are open and which are closed when you toggle the switch.

On many DPDT switches, the center contacts are the poles and the two adjacent contacts for each pole are the two throws. But it sounds like your switch may look a little different since it is foot operated.

  3. There are two rows, each of three tabs.

For each row of three tabs:-

The middle tab is the connection which is connected to one of the other tabs when the switch is in one position, but is connected to the tab on its other side when the switch is in the other position.
