I've Got A BMW 740I, How Do I Restart It?

I have a BMW 740I that has be standing for 9 months. Is there a starting procedure once the battery has been re-charged?

  1. Not that I am aware of.  Really if the battery has been dead for that long and its sat with no power to it the computer is as reset as it will get.

  3. I doubt that you would need to do anything special to start an engine that has sat for awhile. But take note of the reason why it sat for sometime, maybe it has a defective timing chain/belt, and trying to start it can do major damage.

    And if it does not start, or runs bad, consider draining the gas in the tank and replacing it will fresh gas.

    Other than the above, you would have to fall back on basic engine diagnostics regarding fuel, air, and spark if it still does not start or runs bad.
