  1. Yes, one example of evolution today is monkeys who read the da vinci code.  They evolved to lose most of their hair once their reading made them smart enough to learn how to make clothes for themselves.  Due to sexual selection (one mechanism of evolution) they still have some hair on the tops of their heads, which makes them look more sophisticated than other monkeys.

It only takes a little imagination to see examples of evolution all around you.

  2. I think the point of evolution is that only the possible survives. Things may evolve into new forms which survive for only a short while, many dying before they are even born or seeded. The fact that some species is here means it is a survivor. So, while any randomised sequence of DNA might be created, it does not make the early cells into anything viable.

  3. True

  4. I believe in evolution, but not for the reason you have given becuase by the same logic you could say that I bleieve in the Spaghetti monster because the universe is so large.

    So, false

  5. is there any examples of evolution today? i mean you just do not see a crocodile reading the da vinci code and they have had more time on this planet than humans have had

  6. BOTH!  ... and there lies the paradox dear!

    Not at the same time.

  7. the only peson who can answer this is you, because it is about what you believe, not me.  there is no link between the two parts of the statement though.

  8. Given infinite time or space, not only is anything possible... but everything, within natural law (spaghetti monsters aren't within that!), is possible and in fact inevitable. It is the nature of "infinity".

@Jeff... like it... very good. Figure me this though... An infinite amount of monkey could come up with the complete works of Shakespeare and yet it took only one to write the Da Vinci Code... seem about right?

  9. No, that is sloppy reasoning. That infinite expanse of space and time is all subject to the same physics, so whatever is impossible here and now is not going to happen long ago in a galaxy far far away, either.

In any case, evolution refers to the process of biological development that happened here on Earth, so what happens in the rest of the universe is irrelevant. And there is ample concrete evidence for evolution, so no need to bring infinity or belief into the discussion.

You *could* use the vastness of the universe as an argument against the unlikeliness of life arising here. Given the size of the universe, one-in-a-trillion odds  is a sure thing for somebody - in this case, us.

  10. Your logic seems slightly  out to me, when two animals breed they make a mutent of both their genes, which they share, the sperm and the egg, thus making the offspring slightly different than any other animal, now if this offspring has a slightly better chance of survival than another animals offspring then it is more probable that its genes will get passed on by having offspring itself, if later down in the future, its habitat is such that its offsprings offsping finds it hard to survive, eg changing weather from ice ages to destert conditions then it likely not to reproduce as much as say a offspring from another animal, and not reproduce, this is the way that over millions of years we get new species of animals and sets of animals whick become extinct. At the moment because of the intervention of mankind and its ability to adapt to any enviroment many species plant and animal become extinct even before we can classify them. Then there are reptiles like crocodiles which have not addapted much for millions of years as they are very resiliant and hardy, this is simiar to sharks as they are excellent killing machines. It has to be said that thoughout all of time of the earth to which their has been life on it, more or less 3.5 billion years, at least 99.9 percent of all species have become extinct, and in the end the fact that man is so adaptable to any living envirment will be fundamentaly are own downfall, as a last note, we are selves are mutations of our parents genes. Hope this has answered your question slightly )
